Front Description
This Triceratops is one of at least seven pins released at Walt Disney World. Believed to have been sold outside the original Countdown to Extinction ride in Animal Kingdom, as all the pins' characters from this series are part of the ride. An older pin found on the smaller 1 3/4" by 2 1/4" black sale display cards.
The dinosaur faces almost fully to the right, mouth very slightly open, right front leg lifted slightly. The creature is a light yellow-brown color.
The pin as shown measures 1 5/8" (41 mm) wide by 1 1/16" (27 mm) tall. As with all the pins in this series, the backstamp is, "© PINS AND THINGS, Phone number, China." (Information from contacting Pins and Things reveals that the company is still used by Disney for pins, though they now use the Disney copyright on the back of the pins they supply.)
The Triceratops was a dinosaur that measured up to 29 1/2' (9 meter) long and nearly 10' (3 meter) tall, weighing up to 13 tons.
