The Walt Disney Family Museum opens its doors to the public on October 1, 2009 at 104 Montgomery Street in The Presidio of San Francisco, CA.
This pin, as well as, several other similar and different pins are the first pins issued and sold at the Museum Store during its pre-grand opening week, and will also be available for sale as open edition pins to the public.
This pin is of the museum's logo. It is rectangular in shape and is designed like a poster board for the museum. There are nine colored squares at the top half of the pin each depicting a different aspect of Walt Disney's life and success story. Starting in the upper left corner, the first square is red with a shoulders up drawing of Mickey Mouse in black. To the right of that is a teal blue square with an illustration of a motion picture camera also in black depicting Live Action Film. The Upper right corner is yellow with an illustration of a motion picture film reel in black for Animated Film. The middle row from the left has an olive green square with an illustration of an old fashioned console TV set in black depicting the Wonderful World of Walt Disney Television. To its right is a deep blue square with an illustrated portrait of Walt Disney depicting the man himself, and to the right of that is a purple square with an artist's palette and paintbrush depicting Art & Color. The third row or lower left corner of the nine square grid has a blue square with a castle spire (Sleeping Beauty's)in black depicting Disneyland. To its right is a gold square with an illustration of an open black ink bottle with a pen inside depicting the Ink & Paint Dept. The final square in the lower right corner is a deep green with an illustration of Walt's steam locomotive in black depicting his love of trains. Below this grid of nine squares in white letters on a black background are the words: THE WALT DISNEY FAMILY MUSEUM.
