Variation of pin #59960. Identical in all respects except the jewel; instead of amethyst, there is a small red stone (ruby?) surrounded by the gold base metal of the pin. One member speculated it could be a home repair for a lost gem, however it seems too professional and deliberate for this to be so. Perhaps an unmarked prototype? Any further theories welcome.
