Front Description
A larger plastic pin, this is part of a series of pins released in the 1980s by Monogram Products for Disney, celebrating Mickey next to various letters.
Mickey (right facing forward) is dressed in a casual 1980s type of dress: white t-shirt with untucked yellow-orange (or gold) shirt or sweater over and blue pants or jeans, socks that match the shirt and a pair of white shoes. His right hand is extended to the left, palm up, but behind the letter U (as if he were presenting it); his left hand is not visible, placed on his left hip. In front of him and to the left is the letter U. The initial is red with slight black border. The plastic used is white; it has a tendency to dull or grow yellowish over time.
The pin itself measures 1 3/4" wide (44 mm) by 1 7/8" (48 mm) tall.
The back of the pin has a simplified brooch-style straight back pinback glued to the pin (a norm for Monogram pins back then). The backstamp is, "© THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY, MFG BY, MONOGRAM PRODUCTS, INC., LARGO, FLORIDA 34643, MADE IN ST. LUCIA. The pin was sold on a black sale card labeled "Fashion Pin."
Note: It appears that the same SKU number was used for all (or at least many of) the pins in this series.
