Front Description
A larger plastic pin, this is part of a series of pins released in the 1980s by Monogram Products for Disney, celebrating Mickey next to various letters.
Mickey (left facing left) hides behind the letter W. It is hard to see his outfit, but it appears to be the same as in the letter G in the series (a casual 1980s type of dress). What can be seen is a yellow-orange or gold shirt or sweater a pair of white shoes. Mickey's left arm rests on the middle section of the W, with hand draped in front of the initial. His right hand is barely seen to the left of the W, perhaps on his hip. In front of him and to the right is the letter W. The initial is red with slight black border. The plastic used is white; it has a tendency to dull or grow yellowish over time.
The pin is one of the larger in the series, measuring 1 3/4" wide (44 mm) by 2 1/8" (54 mm) tall.
The back of the pin has a simplified brooch-style straight back pinback glued to the pin (a norm for Monogram pins back then). The backstamp is, "© THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY, MFG BY, MONOGRAM PRODUCTS, INC., LARGO, FLORIDA 34643, MADE IN ST. LUCIA. The pin was sold on a black sale card labeled "Fashion Pin."
Note: It appears that the same SKU number was used for all (or at least many of) the pins in this series.
