Front Description
This locket was sold upon the opening of Disneyland in 1955. The pin is shaped like one of the storybooks found in early Disney films, with lots of scroll-work on the front. Sleeping Beauty Castle is in relief on the front, with "Disneyland" at the bottom. It opens from the right side thanks to a spring-load mechanism (so the locket pops open when tripped).
This main section dangles from a silver bow (this is where the brooch-style straight back with clasp is). When opened, there is a triple hinge (one to the right and two to the left), revealing four photo spots where very small photos could be placed.
The pin measures just under 2" tall and over 3" wide when fully opened. The bottom of the pin reads "1955 (C) WALT DISNEY PROD." On the back of the pin is "Coro (C), PATENT PENDING. Coro is short for Cohn & Rosenberger, one of the original pioneers of Disney pin making. Photos used by permission of pin's owner.
