Front Description
Released on 2 Nov 2001 (in time for Veterans Day), this patriotic pin features a Mickey-head icon themed after the US flag. Because of the huge wave for everything patriotic following the 9/11/01 attack, Disney had trouble keeping the pins in stock. 2 Nov 2001: "These two pins came out early in the day in limited numbers, but late this afternoon DTD had them for sale." 5 Nov 2001: "The Patriotic Mickey pins are being produced in an increased number to supply the need for them. For the time, a limit of two per person, both at park and via mail order, will be enforced until pins spend some time on the racks." Available for purchase on DisneyStore.com at the end of November 2001 ($6.00, Item No. 24762).
This pin features the flag of the United States of America (USA). One-third of the pin is blue with seven white stars or parts of a star. Two-third's is red and white stripes, four red, and three white.
This pin listing is for both the real and synthetic cloisonne versions with these measurements and either of the OPT 2001 backstamp logos shown here. If you're a completist, that means you need four pins to fulfill this version.
There are separate listings for the other versions of this World Showcase pin. However, this design has been released (and scrapped) many times through the years, in other sizes and with different backstamps. There may be slight differences in the number of stripes and stars on other versions (real and not), so look closely at your pin. Please carefully check the dimensions and back of your pin before cataloguing.
