PP91836    Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives - the Reagan Library - Storybook Snow White

Front Description

This is a large, hinged story book pin in white and bronze accents. The pin has large borders on each side and the bottom which surrounds the text "Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" The left vertical border, along the hinge, shows ornate swirls and three clasps topped by a right facing chipmunk and a standing, front facing, bunny on the bottom. The bottom horizontal border shows all seven dwarves in white. The right vertical border has more scrolls swirled with forest creatures (owl, squirrel) topped with a left facing squirrel with a sitting, front facing bunny at the bottom.

Opening the pin, the left shows a huge mirror (new pins will have a cling film covering to protect the surface, the line in the photo is the reflection of my ceiling). The mirror is topped by a crown with three jewels and two self coiled serpents wind their way halfway down the mirror. The rest of the mirror is finished with a slim border, leaves and circles. On the right, the there is ornate vintage book page with highly decorated and colored text which reads "EACH DAY the vain Queen consulted her Magic Mirror. "Magic Mirror on the Wall, Who is the fairest one of all?" ...and as long as the Mirror answered. "You are the fairest one of all." Snow White was Safe from the Queen's cruel jealous. The "E" at the beginning is bordered with a hidden queen with her mirror along the inner curve of the "E" and is further enhanced with a crown and a male peacock sitting on trailing edges of the decorations. At the end of the text block is a gold scrolled border with a dagger in the middle.

The back of the pin has two vertical posts without nubs. Centered between the posts is a medium sized crest which shows two scrolls bracketing a Mickey head icon followed by "Walt Disney Archives" and "Collection" in a banner that drapes across the crest followed by "EST. 1923" at the bottom of the crest and bracketed by scrolls. Underneath that is "(C) Disney" and below that "MADE IN CHINA".

The pin is backed on a black flocked card which reads D23, Disney.com/D23 on the top left Mickey ear and "The Official Disney Fan Club" on the bottom. The back has a sticker that reads Storybook Cinderella Pin, the barcode WDP023, $16.95, Ronald Reagan Museum Store" Printed on the side border is P389-7448-2-12132

This pin was inspired by the Snow White prop storybook shown during the brief live-action prologue sequence before the film in 1937.

The front of this pin is similar to Pin 86154: D23 Expo 2011 - Fairy Tale Book Series - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs but it is larger and the inside scenes are different.

There are two other story book pins available for purchase at the D23 Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum.
