Front Description
A participation or award medal for the EVG-Wanderung, a hiking club in Germany that is still active today. An event was held in the Schiffweiler area of Germany within the Neunkirchen district in Saarland (near the border of France) in 1966.
There are several pieces / elements to the pin: The top is a appears to be brass with "EVG-WANDERUNG SCHIFFWEILER" on it. Overlapping on top is a red, green and white semi-oval logo with white comedy/tragedy masks, and plants (half white, half green background) with a border that says "1966" at the top and "UNTERHALTUNGS-VER SCHIFFWEILER" (Supports Schiffweiler) around the sides and bottom.
Attached to the back of this is a long cloth ribbon in red and white. At the base of the brass are two loops from which is hung a brass chain. Hanging from it is a large and heavy pewter-looking element which shows a large traditional Germany hiking hat with dark green ribbon trim. Mickey (left) and Donald (right) are walking to the right. Mickey holds a hiking stick in his right hand. Hand-painted, both are in their traditional outfits of red and balck (Mickey) and blue with red tie (Donald). A very heavy pin at 3.6 ounces (103 GM)
The pin measures 5 1/2" (14 cm) tall and 3" (7.6 cm) wide. It has an old-style straight pin and hook clasp at the top; the designer of the pin is listed as "B. LEIB".
