One of nine pins from the 2013 DCA Redwood Creek Challenge Trail Badges set of Hidden Mickey pins that was released in Wave A at Disneyland. Each round pin has a simple outline of a different emblem. The six emblems represent the badges needed to earn the title of “Senior Wilderness Explorer” at the Challenge Trail in the park. Of course, the whole concept was inspired by the little scout, Russell, as seen in the Disney Pixar animated movie, UP! The small Hidden Mickey icon can be found on the right side of the solid-colored pin backgrounds. Pins were originally only available by trading with a cast member. In July 2013, pouches containing two random 2013 Hidden Mickey pins were available to purchase for $10.95.
This Completer pin features the Wilderness Explorer badge, a green tree marked with a yellow W and a brown E for the trunk of the tree, all on a red background. To earn the Senior Wilderness Explorer badge in the park, you first have to earn all six of the activity badges. This pin wasn’t available until 2014, when it was released at Disneyland as one of 11 completer pins for the 2013 Disneyland Resort Hidden Mickey series available for $2.95 with any purchase of $30 or more.
The six common pins include the Wilderness Explorer merit badges for Tracking, Bravery, Rock Climbing, Wolf Howl, Animal Spirit, and Puzzle Solving. The Wolf Howl and Animal Spirit badges are repeated on the two silver Chaser pins. The Wilderness Explorer badge is featured on the Completer pin.
