Front Description
This is a LARGE pin from the movie "Treasure Planet" released by Disney Auctions. This pin has the picture of main characters Jim Hawkins and John Silver inside the gold frame with the "Treasure Planet" title at the bottom on the red background.
Originally developed as a limited edition of 100 pins, 25 Jim-and-Silver pins were to be offered individually, while the remaining 75 pins were to be part of a set of five Treasure Planet pins. The auctions for these pins were held just after the opening of the Treasure Planet movie, and with the poor box office draw of the movie, interest in these pins quickly diminished. In the middle of the auctions, Disney Auctions reduced the number of pins available. I do not recall the final number of 5-pin sets sold, but it was less than 75 (if a member purchased the 5-pin set, please leave a comment on the total available). The number of individual pins available was reduced from 25 to 6. The retail price of the individual Jim-and-Silver pin was $18.00.
